Nurturing beautiful skin is an internal and an external process. Beauty truly begins from the inside out. Your skin is your largest and most visible organ of your body. As such, it is an indicator of good or ill health. Many factors affect the skin cycle: hormones, stress, illness, sun exposure, and nutrition. When you are trying to maintain healthy, beautiful skin, it pays to eat certain foods that are rich in the nutrients our body needs the most. A healthy, balanced diet including the following foods will lead you to the radiant, youthful skin we all deserve.

Blueberries – One of the most antioxidant rich foods there are, blueberries help to fight free radicals which attack and damage your skin, resulting in reversing the effects and signs of premature aging.

Spinach – The high amount of Vitamin C that is found in spinach, works to repair skin cells and keep your skin looking beautiful. Vitamin C is used to make collagen, a protein used to reproduce new skin cells and without this, you can experience dry, flaky skin.

Avocados – The avocado is extremely high in vitamin E and C which are essential vitamins for healthy skin. The combination of the vitamins and high amounts of “good fats” work together to repair damaged skin and boost moisture.

Walnuts – Walnuts are rich in B-vitamins and antioxidants that prevent your skin from free radical damage which prevent wrinkles and signs of aging.

Sweet Potatoes – The levels of Vitamin A and beta-carotene make sweet potatoes a super food. Beta-carotene combats the free radicals which cause aging skin, and has been known to brighten the skin on your face and especially around your eyes.

Chia Seeds – These seeds are full of essential fatty acids that help keep your skin supple and glowing. They are also full of protein, fiber, and antioxidants making them a super food for your all around health.

Coconut – The fats found in the coconut help to strengthen the membrane of your skin’s cells, creating a barrier for free radicals and even UV radiation. Raw coconut also contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents.
